The President of the United States is increasing his threats of military aggression against Cuba, a dangerous and unprecedented escalation. New threats and sanctions are being imposed by the US government on Cuba, further tightening the blockade that has persisted for more than six decades and aims to suffocate the Cuban population. Trump declares that he will deal with Cuba after the end of the war in Iran, wanting, he says, to "finish the job." He wants to send the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to within 100 meters of the Cuban coast and hopes for a "thank you very much, we surrender" response.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel responded: “No aggressor, however powerful, will find surrender in Cuba. They will encounter a people determined to defend sovereignty and independence on every inch of national territory.” He also indicated that the White House's reaction was linked to the outcome of the “My Signature for the Homeland” movement , which concluded with the support of “six million Cubans (81% of the population over 16 years of age) in defense of the militarily threatened Homeland, and in denunciation of the reinforced blockade and energy encirclement.” Beyond this magnificent demonstration of support for the Revolution, the people marched en masse not only in Havana but in every city in the country. More than 5 million people were in the streets on May 1st to defend Cuba.
An international solidarity meeting with Cuba, entitled "For a world without blockades: Active solidarity for Fidel's centenary" , was held on May 2nd at the Congress Palace in the Cuban capital:
Miguel Díaz-Canel reminded us: “When capitalism and imperialism are in crisis, the most ultraconservative and far-right ideas resurface. This is why fascism is experiencing a current resurgence and the current American government is a fascist government”… “This is why genocidal acts are committed throughout the world, such as the genocide perpetrated against the Palestinian people, such as the genocide perpetrated against the Lebanese people, or why aggression and war rhetoric are used to resolve international conflicts”… “We are witnessing an ideological war, a cultural war, and a media war”… “Imperialism seeks to impose its hegemonic ideas through domination.” He wants to dominate the world, he wants to dominate us all, he wants to dominate our peoples, he wants to dominate our nations… “The world must be aware that what is being done against Cuba, what is being done against Palestine, what is being done against Iran, could be done to anyone one day.”
“We firmly believe that the true strength of a nation lies in its people, its citizens, and the workers who are building a dignified future. Today, thanks to you, this strength is multiplied tenfold in our country, demonstrating that international solidarity is the most powerful weapon against global selfishness. The heroism, resilience, creativity, dignity, and history of the Cuban people, united with you and your solidarity, will lead us to victory.”… “The Cuban people are determined to remain a beacon of hope in the Caribbean for all those throughout the world who aspire to a better world.”
No to the blockade!
The Revolutionary Communist Party salutes the example of courage, determination, peace, cooperation, and solidarity offered by Cuba to the world. We demand the immediate end to all threats and hostile measures by the United States against Cuba, including the lifting of the cruel, criminal, and illegal blockade, in accordance with the numerous resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly. We express our solidarity with socialist Cuba and call for the broadest international solidarity to defend its independence and sovereignty, as well as the rights of the Cuban people, including the right to decide their future in peace and free from all foreign interference and pressure.
Cuba is not alone! Cuba will prevail!
