Bulletin No 53 decembre 2024 December 20 is the year 66 of the Cuban Revolution. On this occasion, a large popular demonstration of more than 500,000 participants showed the world the deep and determined will of the Cuban people to resist and fight the illegal blockade of Cuba by the United States. Let us recall that this blockade has been condemned for decades, almost unanimously by the UN General Assembly [1] . But the United States does not care about UN resolutions. As with Palestine, only their imperialist interests matter and nothing is more unbearable for them than this people who, a stone's throw from their coast, intend to live free and determine their own policy, a people refusing that their country be amess,as it was before the revolution of the American big bourgeoisie.
On the occasion of this powerful demonstration, Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, gave a speech, emphasizing the importance of the march of the people fighting against the blockade and for the exclusion of Cuba from the list of countries that supposedly support terrorism.
We publish this intervention in full [2] :
Dear Army General Raul Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, Dear people of Cuba, Residents of Havana, Compatriots,
The current US administration, which has exactly one month left in the White House, has done nothing to move away from the line of tightened blockade and economic asphyxiation of Cuba, leaving it as a legacy to the Republican administration that will return to the Oval Office in January.
With the application of the 243 additional measures and the maintenance of Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, Biden has respected with discipline and cruelty the policy that Trump adopted during his mandate.
In recent weeks and days, there have been many statements from personalities in the United States and elsewhere asking Biden to use his power to at least remove from this false list the name of a country that should never have been on it.
Designating Cuba as a state that supposedly sponsors terrorism is at the very least false and immoral, no matter where the accusation comes from, but it is even more false when the accusation comes from U.S. territory, where paramilitary groups are currently training to organize, encourage and finance terrorist actions against the social and economic structures of Cuba.
They are based in South Florida without hiding to train. They do it publicly, in full view of everyone, with the protection of local authorities, violating even their own laws and international treaties.
This is how they acted for many years, sheltering on their territory confessed terrorists from this continent, such as Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch, masterminds of the abominable crime in Barbados, who nevertheless died in peace in the United States without ever having paid for their crimes.
With such a track record, no U.S. government can list Cuba as a terrorist state.
The current government of this country knows this perfectly well. This was acknowledged by Secretary of State Antony Blinken last May when he told the media that there was no justification for keeping Cuba on this list.
They recognize it but do not act, because US policy towards Cuba was sequestered for more than six decades by a mafia stronghold of supporters of the dictator Batista, based in southern Florida, and in the face of which they have shown weakness when it comes to acting coherently towards our country.
Maintaining Cuba on this list and strengthening the blockade policy are ruthless actions against the Cuban people, which must stop immediately!
When financial transactions are pursued and prohibited from our international trade, it is the Cuban people who are being denied food, medicine, fuel, goods, supplies and merchandise essential to their survival.
When we put obstacles in the way of our exports or when we track down and penalize relations with our companies, it is the country that we deprive of the foreign currency that is essential to our development and to the financing of our social justice project.
When online service contracts are prevented or academic and scientific exchanges are restricted, it is a blow to a country that seeks to develop and move forward with its talent and its own efforts in an increasingly interconnected world.
When we deny a people in the midst of a pandemic medical oxygen, and go so far as to intimidate other countries or foreign companies that could do so, we are acting criminally.
This is the daily struggle in which Cuba, its people and its government strive to progress.
The pretension of the United States to tear apart the dignity of this people, by means of strangulation, has been destroyed today by this gathering and this combative march, which shows how high the honor of our Fatherland remains (Applause).
Since we called for this march, the advocates of anti-Cuban hatred have been hysterically shouting that it would be a failure, calling for a boycott and lying about its motivations.
How little they know the Cuban people! How much they still underestimate our patriotic and revolutionary convictions!
Other sad spokesmen for the US government and the anti-Cuban mafia of South Florida persisted in poisoning social networks with the false idea that this was an anti-US march.
Against the American people, we do not profess the slightest feeling of hatred or animosity. Towards the noble citizens of this country all our respect, and our hand will always be extended to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the two peoples.
It is the same hand that we have extended to every government of the United States, from the triumph of the Revolution to today, always in the framework of a serious, respectful and equal relationship.
But if the United States persists in its desire to break our sovereignty, our independence, our socialism, it will find only rebellion and intransigence (Applause).
The Cuban Revolution has survived every government that has tried, and that will not change.
This march will certainly be very anti-imperialist! Against US imperialism and its pretension to impose itself on Cuba by force or seduction, we will march now and always (Applause).
We are marching now to tell the United States government: "Let the Cuban people live in peace!"
Down with interference! (Exclamations: “Down!”)
Down with the blockade! (Exclamations: “Down!”)
Down with unilateral coercive measures against Cuba! (Exclamations: “Down!”)
Down with Cuba being listed as a state sponsor of terrorism! (Exclamations of “Down!”)
Down with the genocide against the Cuban people! (Exclamations: “Down!”)
Socialism or death!
Homeland or death!
Venceremos! (Exclamations: “ Venceremos! ”)
