Bulletin No50 septembre 2024 A Zionist newspaper forced to deny its lies
It is Le Monde , little known for denouncing the lies of Zionist propaganda, which tells us: " The "Jewish Chronicle ", the oldest Jewish newspaper in the world, admits to having published false information on the war in Gaza. The management dismissed a journalist from this London-based weekly, suspected of spreading "fake news " that legitimized the Israeli Prime Minister's position against Hamas. "
We learn that the newspaper's management has concluded a thorough investigation into independent journalist Elon Perry, which began after allegations were made about certain aspects of his work. We also learn, in passing, that the aforementioned Perry served in the Zionist army of occupation. The newspaper has therefore decided to remove Perry's articles from its website and to cease all collaboration with him.
So what lies has he been spreading? Elon Perry recently signed a series of scoops, including one on September 5, based on “ sources from Israeli intelligence ,” detailing a supposed plan by Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar to escape from the Gaza Strip via the Philadelphia Corridor, located along the Gaza-Egypt border. This pseudo-information allowed Netanyahu to justify his position in favor of maintaining the occupation army in this corridor, while he was, on this point, in great difficulty in Israel, since even his Minister of Defense and many others advocated, in the negotiation with the Palestinian Resistance, leaving the Philadelphia axis in order to reach the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement and the release of captives held in Gaza.
Elon Perry's claims were considered unfounded by an army spokesman, Daniel Hagari. And this is not the first time that we find, here and there, fabricated information on Hamas' strategy, aiming to say that the search for a ceasefire would not be a priority for the Palestinian Resistance. So much so that the Israeli magazine " +972 " even puts forward the theory of a pro-Netanyahu campaign. It quotes, Le Monde tells us , " the very experienced journalist Shlomi Eldar who does not hesitate, on X, to point out leaks coming directly from the Israeli Prime Minister's office to influence the foreign press ."
Jenny Manson, co-president of the Jewish Voice for Labour association (an organization of British Jews defending the Palestinian cause), considers it " very shocking " that the Jewish Chronicle could publish such false information. She is not surprised, however: " I am a secular, left-wing Jew, and very proud of my Jewish roots. The Jewish Chronicle was a newspaper respected by my family for a very long time. But its drift to the right began years ago, and it became glaring, when the newspaper multiplied accusations of anti-Semitism against Jeremy Corbyn ," Jenny Manson told Le Monde. For the record, the pro-Palestinian position of the former leader of the Labour Party had attracted the wrath of the press, from the best-selling to the capitalists of his comrades, who had used the fatal weapon of diverting anti-Semitism and thus obtained Corbyn's resignation.
Finally, bad news for the Zionist newspaper, Le Monde informs us that: " On Sunday, September 15, four of the newspaper's best-known contributors resigned to protest the publication of fabricated information. " French media, starting with LCI and BFM, the most committed spokesmen of Zionist propaganda, have relayed these false assertions. Clearly, they have not yet reacted to the news brought by Le Monde .
In the Western imperialist countries and in particular in France, the relay of Zionist propaganda is continuous, thus, for example, no newspaper or radio and television medium in France has addressed the elements of doubt, provided in particular by Haaretz , on the official version of the events of October 7, 2023. None have mentioned the "Hannibal procedure"; as for the accusations concerning roasted babies or rapes, they have never been denied and some still spread them without a shadow of proof. Nevertheless, the evolution of the situation, the fact that more and more people realize that a genocide is taking place before our eyes, allows us to lift corners of the veil. The Jewish Chronicle affair , in this regard, is exemplary.
Meeting between FDLP and Hamas in Gaza
The Gazan organizations Hamas and the DFLP (Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine) met a few days ago in the Gaza Strip. This meeting is interesting for several reasons. First, the two organizations, which participated in the attack of October 7 and, since then, in the armed resistance to the genocidal assault of the occupation army, were able to meet in Gaza, which says a lot about the so-called control of the Strip by the Zionist army. Then, unlike their brothers in the PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine), the DFLP activists did not suspend their participation in the PLO bodies; it was therefore representatives of the second organization constituting the PLO (after Fatah) who met with those of Hamas, this says a lot, and the joint statement confirms it, on the prospects for the union of the Palestinian Resistance. Here are some excerpts from the joint statement.
“ Resistance is a legitimate right of our people, recognized by all norms and conventions. Operation Al-Aqsa Flood is the natural result of our people’s confrontation and resistance to the continued aggression against our rights and our homeland, as well as the practices of the occupation and its extremist settlers. Resistance will remain present as long as Palestine is occupied.
The aftermath of the war will be determined by the Palestinian people, as they hold the exclusive right and authority in this matter, with all national factions around the table. We affirm that no agreement with the Zionist occupation will be reached unless it meets the demands of our people, which include stopping the global aggression, complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, lifting the siege, reconstruction and reaching a serious prisoner exchange agreement.
The implementation of the Beijing Agreement and previous agreements is a necessary step to rebuild the Palestinian political system and reform and develop the Palestine Liberation Organization so that it can resume its natural role in leading the Palestinian people toward the realization of our aspirations for freedom, independence, statehood, and liberation .
We had insisted on the forward-looking nature of the Beijing Agreement. This meeting confirms it. The Palestinians of Gaza are resisting and the long road to the unity of the Resistance is getting shorter.
The reasons for the conflict are becoming increasingly clear, which brings elements of hope
We have said this since the beginning of the resumption of the war. We are facing a colonial war that has lasted for more than 75 years, since the Naqbah of 1948. It is a colonization of settlement: the Zionist project does not consist of settling in Palestine and exploiting the natives like France in Algeria, but of driving the Palestinians from their homeland, stealing their lands and homes and killing all the recalcitrants.
One of the ideological tools used during these 75 years to deny this state of affairs has been the invisibility of the Palestinians, the very denial of their existence. The initial slogan of the Zionists " A people without land for a land without people " already contained the will to kill or expel the Palestinians.
When Ariel Sharon dismantled the Gaza settlements in 2005, he was called a traitor in Israel because he was "leaving ." He would always respond: "We must finish the work that Ben-Gurion left unfinished in 1948." Elias Sanbar, a Palestinian historian and poet, former member of the Palestinian delegation that negotiated the Oslo Accords, close to Ibrahim Souss [1] and Yasser Arafat, sheds light on the meaning of this phrase in a speech given on Sunday, September 15: " What was not finished in 1948? The fact that not all Palestinians had become absent. The issue was that we would become a people forcibly displaced, absent, foreign in their own home and refugees in the homes of others after their name had been erased. "
For decades, it was said that the Palestinian people did not exist, they were called refugees, or refugees from the territories (without ever saying that they were occupied), or Arabs from the territories, and for those who remained in Israel in 1948, it was Israeli Arabs. Since 1967, the Palestinians have fought to bring their name back to the stage. Today, this fight has borne fruit; let us give the floor to Elias Sanbar: “ Today, even our worst enemies, even the murderers no longer dare to say that we do not exist. We exist. With variations on the theme: they are impossible, they are unapproachable, we cannot trust them, but they exist. We have gone from invisibility to visibility with the return of our name. We fought for 50 years to say, we exist, we have a name, because, when you do not have a name, you do not exist. The reconquest of the name was the great war of the Palestinian people and it is accomplished today .
This return of the name is definitely due to the Palestinians of Gaza and the Resistance fighters of all Palestine. The Zionists had to change their ideological approach, moving from invisibility to dehumanization, with "The Human Animals", for example, but today no one remembers that Bezalel Smotrich, one of Netanyahu's fascist ministers, told anyone who would listen that the Palestinian people did not exist? Who remembers that Geert Wilders, the fascist nationalist from the Netherlands, said that the country of the Palestinians was Jordan? The fierce resistance of the Palestinians and the tremendous surge of solidarity in the world, of workers and peoples have made this possible. The Palestinians exist.
There were 1.4 million in 1948, today there are 13 million, 60% of whom are refugees. Ben-Gurion's successors, led by Netanyahu, dream of finishing the job, that is, of finishing off those who remained. That and that alone is the goal of this war for the Zionists.
But it is not that simple. In the Gaza Strip, the goal is twofold: to drive out civilians and kill as many as possible and to annihilate the armed resistance. However, the more the occupation army bombs, the more it lets the world know that its military objectives are not being achieved . The fighting continues everywhere, including in the north of the Strip, which Netanyahu announced had been neutralized for nearly six months. This war, if we are interested in it without the official media, tells us how defeated the occupation army is. Elias Sanbar tells us in these terms: " We are at the thousandth announcement that everything is over, and it continues. It continues, because it does not work. […] In this territory of 60 km², we have constant proof that this army is not achieving its objectives. And the more they fail, the more they take revenge on civilians. "
The other huge difficulty that the Zionists face is that the people of Gaza are not leaving. In every word that we hear from the Palestinians of Gaza, there is a strong and regular phrase: " We will not leave ." It is important to know that nearly 80% of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip are descendants of the refugees of 1948, who were born and lived in the camps, such as Khan Younis. The lesson of the Naqbah is simple: " If you leave, you will not come back ." The people of Gaza know this, so despite everything they are going through, despite the suffering, they are not leaving.
The war is taking on other proportions, in the West Bank too, we are arriving at a war of annexation with a double goal: to kill or to make leave. " Israel wants Gaza to become the West Bank, an occupied and colonized land, and the West Bank to become the Gaza Strip, a destroyed and razed land; then the work will be finished, " Elias Sanbar tells us again.
Sanbar explains to us that the Palestinians have also held on thanks to their culture, their poetry, a collective practice at home; " We took that with us when we were chased out, " he adds. This intellectual admires the proletarians of Gaza who remain despite everything. When we see the class contempt shown by certain left-wing intellectuals in France towards workers who vote badly, we can all the more salute this admiration and this great intellectual that is Elias Sanbar.
In Conclusion
The Palestinians, with or without weapons, are resisting and the occupation army is in difficulty, the Zionist state itself is on the verge of collapse. This is enough to warm the hearts of those who are fighting in their own way for the liberation of Palestine.
Like all those supporters of the liberation of Palestine around the world, we continue and will continue, tirelessly, to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire, as well as free access for humanitarians throughout the Gaza Strip, and the total withdrawal of the occupying forces from the enclave. But this will not be enough.
A just peace means the dismantling of the colonies, the return of the refugees and an independent Palestinian state. What prevents such a peace is the existence of a colonial state. The workers of Israel cannot be free if they do not break with Zionism, if they continue to find themselves objectively in the camp of the colonizers. Solidarity with Palestine cannot be satisfied with general phrases about peace. We need a state where all inhabitants enjoy the same rights and can live together, regardless of their origin, in this case, a democratic Palestinian state. Similarly, the national liberation struggle of the Palestinian people does not need compassion, but real political support and actions of internationalist solidarity. And for France, where the Revolutionaries, as elsewhere, must first fight their capitalists, this begins with the political struggle against the support of French imperialism for the Zionist colonial state.
This is why the Revolutionary Communist Party intends to continue to bring together all those who want an immediate ceasefire to end the massacre of Palestinians and who speak out for peace. For us, this means supporting the fundamental demands of the Palestinian national liberation movement, especially after the assassination of one of its leaders: an immediate end to Zionist military aggression, the right of return for refugees and the formation of a Palestinian state on the territory of Mandatory Palestine.
