n°10-30/01/2021 The events of January 6 in Washington with the assault on the Capitol have made the headlines. All sorts of comments were made, from an unprecedented attack on the largest "democracy" in the world to Trump's latest "whim", without the meaning and the underlying reasons for this event being brought to light

This assault on Capitol Hill, by demonstrators overheated by Trump's provocative speeches, was obviously long-prepared and benefited from complicity in the various federal security services.
No one is fooled, the function of this staging is essentially to put down a marker by accrediting the idea that an alternative exists to a political two-party system in crisis and fundamentally at the exclusive service of US Big Business.
Since the big American capital has chosen a more "presentable" Biden instead of Trump, its leaders are calling for a peaceful transfer of power, whistling the end of the break! as the Wall Street Journal did. It notes in its own way the continuity with Trump and his slogan "Make America great again".This profession of faith did not start with Trump. It is professed by all presidents whether Republican or Democratic whose political function is to ensure the domination of US monopolies. It is precisely the consequences of this policy that lead to the deep social, political and economic crisis that the United States is going through; a crisis which is reflected in these millions of Americans thrown into social decline, poverty, precariousness and misery. In the absence of a revolutionary outcome, many of these workers and employees, especially white, Hispanic... find refuge in chauvinist, racist, maintenance of order and fascist speeches. That is how Trump obtained more than 75 million votes by reaping the discontent of people to serve the great financial and industrial interests. Now, with or without Trump, the American big bourgeoisie needs to cultivate an "alternative", however fascistic, as it knows very well that Biden will pursue an unpopular anti-social policy and an aggressive international policy.
Those who pretend to be amazed in the face of what they call the bankruptcy of "American democracy" want people to forget that this very democracy has provoked dozens of wars, the destruction of countries, coups d'état, the overthrow of elected governments and the bloodshed of peoples, whether under Republican or Democrat presidency. Exploitation, poverty, unemployment, repression, racism are the other side of the same coin.
Trump is the product of a political system plagued by corruption, the dominance of capitalism, opportunism and cynicism. Trump won in 2017 by denouncing the Democratic establishment and this trend will continue because the two-party system offers no options to meet the demands of a growing section of the working people. While in many ways the ruling class can still 'lead', there is no doubt that the political crisis is setting in. Although we have seen many blows to employees and seen many scandals emerge in previous decades, it has even worsened under the Trump administration. These phenomena are not specific to the USA, albeit in forms marked by the history of each people, they are found in many countries. In Europe, what is qualified as "populism" is none other than this will of the forces of capital to keep in its lap the deep discontent generated by increasingly harsh policies against workers. In the USA, as elsewhere and especially in our country, the question facing the workers, the popular strata, must be raised powerfully. Can this continue? The answer is no, but the hard part is answering the question: what should be done? Experience shows that all policies that do not tackle the domination of capital, including those claiming to reform it, are not only doomed to failure but even worse, they deepen a crisis that tends to give birth to a fascist-type solution. Under these conditions, the only way forward is that of a change of society that ends with the capitalist system. It is the political choice of our party, we sum it up by: "bring down capitalism and build socialism". This will not happen overnight, it takes an intense class struggle and a revolutionary political organization to lead the fight. This is the role our party has set for itself.
