Since the US paved the way for the State of Israel's annexation of a large part of the West Bank and approved the ongoing colonization of Palestinian territory, with the complicit silence of all the imperialist powers from the European Union to Russia via China,
the imperialist media are developing the idea that the Palestinian cause is definitively buried. Most Arab states – this was already the case with Egypt and Jordan, it has recently been the case with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, it will be the case tomorrow with Sudan and Saudi Arabia – look to Israel to seal, if not an alliance, at least a mutual recognition, abandoning de facto the Palestinian people that would become an entity with limited rights within a Zionist state that defines itself as the state of the "Jewish people ".
All the current weaving and shifting of alliances in the region between the imperialist powers, including France, and the regional powers: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iran can only be read as the constitution of opposing imperialist blocs, more or less homogeneous which place their interests, those of their monopolies above any other consideration. France, which played a minor role in the imperialist wars against Syria and Iraq and triggered the war against Libya, from which it is now relatively absent, is looking for a way to reintroduce itself into the process of sharing influence in the region. The situation in Lebanon gave Macron the opportunity and he seized it. Contrary to what French diplomacy asserts, which would have us believe in disinterested aid, it is a question of rescuing a political system whose corruption is obvious but which has the merit of being pliable and therefore constitutes an important pawn in the general system of imperialist forces. However, despite the enormous pressure exerted on the peoples they have not had their final say. In Palestine, the struggle against occupation continues, it could take a new turn in its content when the possibility of the constitution of a Palestinian state recedes. In Israel, forces, albeit still weak, oppose colonization and realize that the state of colonial rule is not eternal. In Lebanon, powerful demonstrations were held against misery, corruption, rejecting the bourgeoisie’s system of power sharing on a confessional basis. In Palestine and Lebanon Communists take part in these struggles. They need and do have our solidarity, but the most effective way to help people emancipate themselves from the colonial and imperialist yoke, to be able to decide sovereignly their future, is to denounce and fight our own imperialism.
